IHMC Centennial 1912-2012

On January 29, a Musical Extravaganza “Celebrate! Ipagdiwang! Celebremos!” featuring a bevy of artists shall jubilate in song and dance from 2pm to 7pm! Performers range from bands to pop soloists, classical artists to jazz instrumentalists to Christian Pop/Rock singers and dancers, representative of the multi-cultural community of the landmark Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (IHMC).

The Musical Extravaganza is part of the church’s 100th year anniversary, the biggest celebration the church has ever seen. The outdoor stage, shielded by a massive tent will be set for the thousand people expected to attend. Festivities begin with the 9:30am Procession and 10:30am Videos shown on outdoor video screens. The 11am Centennial Mass celebrant is no less than the Archbishop Jose Horacio Gomez, and concelebrants are Bishop Edward Clark, Bishop Alex Salazar, Bishop Oscar A. Solis, and IHMC’s own Pastor Rev. Rodel G. Balagtas and Rev. Camilo Pacanza (Assistant Priest) along with former Pastors and Associate Pastors, and other members of the Clergy. IHMC Music Director Pete Avendano has prepared a spirited selections for the mass, to be performed by the IHMC Adult Choir, the IHMC Children’s Choir, and Mike Zuniga ably supported by the Musicians of the Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra and Robert Shroder. Dignitaries and special guests such as Eric Garcetti, President of the Los Angeles City Council and Con. Gen. Mary Jo Bernardo Aragon, shall be present for a special 100th Birthday Celebratory Toast.

Church Pastor Rev. Fr. Rodel Balagtas invites everyone to enjoy the rest of the day with music, dance and of course, food! Admission to the Musical Extravaganza is free. Performing in the 2pm-7pm show are latin artist Yesenia Flores, Filipino-American singer and musical theatre actress Lara Avengoza, Broadway actor Bones Deoso, singer/composer Nilo Alcala, Christian Pop artist Bryan Guardado, young concert artist Lianna Gutierrez, vocalist and actress Claire Rodriguez, tenor Erwin Andaya, Martin Romero, Guillermo Bermudez, singing champion Jane Provido, saxophonist Marty Dumaual, jazz vocalist Grace, singer/songwriter Elson Trinidad, the Bread of Life Band, saxophonist Amin Baghallian, salsa dancers Tony and Lorie D, and the Folklorico Guatemalteco and more. Vocalist and music producer Annie Nepomuceno is Emcee. Food sellers shall be are available to satiate the crowd’s hunger as they enjoy the afternoon festivities. Among them are Neri’s Curbside Craving Truck has BBQ & Burger specialties, as well as Tapsilog favorites and Crispy Dinuguan. Delectable desserts and pastries can be purchased from Kainan Nino, and the House of Silvanas, known for their delectable signature specialty.

Come and join the revelry on January 29th at the IHMC grounds, at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and Alexandria street in Los Angeles in this milestone event! Procession is at 9:30am, Video Presentation at 10:30am, Mass at 11am. Musical Extravaganza is from 2-7pm.
